120 Never Have I Ever questions for couples

Most lists are written for a group of strangers at a party. These are written for two people who already know each other's answers to the easy ones.

The standard version of this game is built to find out surface facts about people you've just met. That's not useful when you're playing with your partner — you already know whether they've been to Goa or broken a bone. The interesting version for couples skips those and goes for questions that reveal something you haven't actually said out loud, even after years together.

Play it the normal way: take turns saying "Never have I ever…", and whoever has done the thing has to explain. No scoring needed, though if you want stakes, loser does the dishes for a week.

Easing in

  • Never have I ever pretended to like a gift
  • Never have I ever texted an ex after we started dating
  • Never have I ever cried during an ad
  • Never have I ever lied about being on my way
  • Never have I ever stalked your social media before we met
  • Never have I ever eaten your leftovers and blamed someone else
  • Never have I ever fake laughed at your joke
  • Never have I ever rehearsed a fight in my head before having it
  • Never have I ever pretended to be asleep to avoid talking
  • Never have I ever googled you before our first date

A little more honest

  • Never have I ever compared us to another couple
  • Never have I ever been jealous of your friend group
  • Never have I ever wanted to cancel plans with your family
  • Never have I ever kept a small secret from you on purpose
  • Never have I ever felt insecure about something you never brought up
  • Never have I ever exaggerated a story to make myself look better
  • Never have I ever avoided a topic because I knew we'd disagree
  • Never have I ever gone through your phone
  • Never have I ever pretended to be fine when I wasn't
  • Never have I ever wished you'd change something about how you communicate

Only if you're both ready

  • Never have I ever doubted us during a rough patch
  • Never have I ever compared our relationship to my parents'
  • Never have I ever imagined what my life would look like without you
  • Never have I ever felt like I was the only one trying
  • Never have I ever kept score of who does more
  • Never have I ever been scared to bring up something serious
  • Never have I ever wondered if we want different futures
  • Never have I ever needed space and not known how to ask for it
  • Never have I ever forgiven something I haven't fully let go of
  • Never have I ever thought about what I'd say in our vows, even if we're not there yet

A note on pacing

Don't start with the last section. The game works because it builds — the easy rounds warm you both up and make the honest ones feel safe rather than confrontational. If a question lands somewhere uncomfortable, that's normally a sign it was worth asking, not a sign to stop the game. Just slow down.
